The story in the frame

We are the people of the red frame: two white knobs, one stylus, one line that has not lifted since July 12, 1960.

What this site is

This is our own shelf, laid out our way: every frame we currently make, from the Classic to the World’s Smallest, plus the archive prints on cotton. We wrote the cards, drew up the lineups and pinned the notes on the doodleboard ourselves.

The buying itself happens elsewhere. Every knob-shaped button on these pages opens the matching listing at our retail partner, and from that moment the order is in their hands: their checkout, their delivery van, their rules. We stay what we are, the people who make the screen.

Why we keep it mechanical

Sixty-five years in, the frame still needs no cords, accounts or updates. We think a drawing toy should be ready the moment fingers touch the dials, and we run this site by the same rule: pages you can read, drawings you can pick, and nothing asking you to sign in.

The desk in Bryan

Bryan, Ohio is where the first screens were built, and our drawing desk keeps a mail slot there to this day.

229 West High Street, Suite 3

That address is a drawing desk with a mail slot, not a store: there is no counter, nothing to try out, and a parcel sent there only puzzles the mail carrier. Letters, though, reach the desk just fine.
